Placement Support Terms

The scope and limits of Pathway Select’s assistance for students seeking course-related work placement.
Updated 23 July 2026 4 minute read

1. Application

These terms apply when Pathway Select provides or attempts to provide support relating to course-required work placement, fieldwork, practical hours or a potential host organisation.

They operate with our Student Services Terms, Privacy Policy and any specific notice shown when you submit a placement request.

2. Our role

Pathway Select may help collect requirements, identify potential next steps, communicate with placement or referral partners and support an introduction. Unless expressly agreed in writing, Pathway Select is not the education provider, placement host, employer, labour-hire provider or supervisor.

3. No placement guarantee

Pathway Select does not guarantee:

that a suitable host will be available;

a placement start or completion date;

a preferred suburb, schedule, industry setting or organisation;

acceptance by a host or approval by your provider;

that all required hours can be completed with one host;

employment before, during or after placement; or

that delays will not affect course progression.

4. Education provider responsibility

Your education provider remains responsible for determining whether placement is required, confirming the hours and competencies, approving the host and arrangement, setting supervision and assessment requirements, maintaining required agreements and deciding whether placement evidence satisfies the course.

Do not start a placement solely because Pathway Select or a potential host suggests it. Obtain your provider’s approval first.

5. Information you must provide

You must provide accurate information about:

your legal name and contact details;

course and qualification code;

education provider and relevant placement contact;

required hours, setting and timing;

completed prerequisites and units where relevant;

availability, travel limits and accessibility needs;

checks, clearances, licences or evidence you hold; and

any restriction that materially affects safe or lawful placement.

Tell us promptly if anything changes.

6. Checks and prerequisites

Placement may require police checks, Working with Children Checks, NDIS Worker Screening, immunisation evidence, first aid, infection-control training, identity checks, licences, uniforms, equipment or other requirements.

The provider and host determine acceptable evidence. Pathway Select does not guarantee that a document will be accepted and does not independently verify every credential unless expressly stated.

7. Health, disability and adjustments

Only disclose health or disability information reasonably necessary to request an adjustment, address safety or meet a lawful requirement. Pathway Select will seek appropriate permission before sharing sensitive information unless disclosure is otherwise permitted or required by law.

Pathway Select cannot guarantee that a particular host or adjustment will be available. The provider and host must assess reasonable adjustments and inherent requirements.

8. Consent to contact and referral

By requesting an introduction and providing the relevant consent, you authorise Pathway Select to contact potential placement or referral partners and share information reasonably required to assess an opportunity.

You can withdraw consent before a referral is sent. Withdrawal may not reverse information already disclosed with valid permission.

9. Host decisions

A potential host may interview, screen, accept, decline, waitlist or request further information. Pathway Select does not control that decision.

The host is responsible for its workplace, supervision, safety systems, conduct and compliance. Report workplace concerns promptly to your provider and host through their required processes.

10. Student conduct

You must behave professionally, comply with lawful instructions, maintain confidentiality, protect clients and vulnerable people, follow safety and infection-control requirements, attend as agreed and notify the responsible parties promptly about absence or concerns.

Misconduct, repeated non-attendance, false information or safety concerns may result in withdrawal of support or termination by a host or provider.

11. Safety and incidents

For immediate danger, contact emergency services and follow the host’s emergency procedures. Report injuries, hazards, harassment, discrimination, privacy breaches and safeguarding concerns to the host and education provider as soon as possible.

You should also tell Pathway Select where the concern relates to a referral we facilitated, but Pathway Select is not a substitute for formal workplace or provider incident reporting.

12. Costs

Unless expressly agreed otherwise, you are responsible for personal placement costs such as transport, checks, licences, uniforms, equipment and unpaid time. Ask your provider whether any costs or assistance apply.

If Pathway Select introduces a paid placement-support service, the price and terms must be disclosed before payment.

13. Cancellations and changes

Hosts, providers or students may cancel, postpone or change an arrangement. Pathway Select will try to communicate known changes but is not responsible for decisions outside its control.

A replacement opportunity may not be available.

14. Employment

Placement is not a promise of employment. Any employment offer is a separate arrangement between you and the employer and should be reviewed independently.

15. Complaints

Course and assessment complaints should be raised with the education provider. Workplace complaints should be raised with the host and provider. Concerns about Pathway Select’s referral, communication or information handling can be submitted under our Complaints, Feedback and Review Policy.

16. Contact

Email support@pathwayselect.com.au or use our contact page.
